Bypassing workgroup locks

When Workgroup Support is enabled, all files in the local site are set to read-only status. There may be situations where you need to work on a read-only file and cannot connect to the WebDAV server in order to check the file out.

To change the read-only status of a local file:

1 Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the file on the Files tab.

2 Choose Reveal in Explorer (Windows) or Reveal in Finder (Mac OS) from the context menu.

3 Depending on the platform you are using, do one of the following:

  • On Windows, choose File > Properties, select the General tab, and deselect the Read-only check box. Click OK.
  • On the Mac OS, press Command+I, deselect the Locked check box in the bottom left corner of the Get Info window, and close the window.

  • You can now edit the file locally. When you connect to the WebDAV server again, you should synchronize your local file with the file on the server. If another user has edited the file, a synchronization conflict will be indicated. You must decide which file has priority and set the synchronization action appropriately. For more details on synchronization, see Synchronizing files on a WebDAV server.
